Greathouse Labs was started four years ago by me (Lance Greathouse), after the cancellation of Robot Wars and Battlebots. I needed a way to continue my passion for designing and building strange and unusual machinery. After constructing and displaying several fire machines at local art events, I found I was not alone in my admiration of fire's beauty and power.
A little bit about myself.
Male (VERY)
AGE 48
I live in Phoenix, AZ and am married with two boys Alex and Bryce, and wife Janis.
I currently work for Biolase as a field service engineer and travel the southwest supporting the world’s best dental lasers!
When I'm not working, my passion is to build one-of-a-kind custom wheelchairs and machines for the disabled! Disabled people looking for something that is not currently offered, custom one of a kind cool looking and functional electric wheelchairs and robotic products.
My goal is to build cool wheelchairs like custom cars and not some medical looking piece of equipment. I have built several prototypes. I also design and build machines to help people reclaim the lives they had before they became disabled, machines to help people enjoy the outdoors again like skeet shooting machines, robotics helpers, automated controls.
I love to build machines that have never been built before. I built machines for Robot Wars and Battlebots and was also a technical consultant for the TV program Junkyard Wars.
I am a Burning Man Fire Artist and build large scale fire machines for the Burning Man event in Nevada and for the smaller regional events every year. I am also a Fire Arts Festival Performer and show my work at Maker Faire events. I have built over 30 different machines in the past four years.
